If you’ve been lucky enough to have a baby recently, then you might also be lucky enough to be able to afford to give up working and be a stay-at-home-mum. However, most parents these days find that it takes two incomes to run the average household and it’s likely that you will be looking at returning to work either on a full-time or part-time basis. It’s not quite as simple as that though and it’s best to think long and hard about whether it’s best to go back to work with the added expense of childcare or whether to give up work completely for a while and just get used to living on a lower income. For those who decide that going back to work is the best way forward, we take a look at all-day childcare facilities as one of the childcare options available.

The first thing you need to decide on is how many hours you will work for per week – this will determine how many hours of childcare you need. Some childcare options are not suited to full time work, so if you are going back on a full time basis, then you will probably need to choose an all-day childcare facility for your little one. All of these facilities have to be rigorously checked and undergo regular inspections from Social Services. This means that you can rest assured that your baby will be in safe hands while you’re at work.

All of the staff who work at a childcare facility will undergo regular CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks, from the owner right down to part time workers who are there on a college placement. The building and equipment will also undergo regular inspections , not just on an appointment basis, but drop-in spot checks will also be conducted for added safety. The number of checks that these places are subjected to nowadays should serve to put your mind at rest about leaving your precious little bundle there for the day.

Many of the all-day childcare providers will be open for long hours each day to make sure that they can cater to parents who need to factor in a fair amount of travelling time to reach work. If you have to make a particularly early start, then many childcare providers are quite happy for you to drop off baby still in pyjamas – as long as you take a bundle of clothing for the day, one of the staff will usually wash, change and dress your baby ready for the day. And at the end of the day, for parents who work late – they are often able to collect their baby already batched, changed and dressed ready for bed. This means that if your little one falls asleep in the car on the way home, it’s just a matter of lifting him out of the car seat and popping him into bed.

All day facilities can be a great childcare option for busy working parents – your baby will get plenty of attention due to the legally required adult/child ratios. The younger the baby, the more one-to-one attention will be available. This means that your baby will not miss out when you’re at work – but will be cared for and given the same amount of attention as he is likely to get at home.

If you’ve had a baby in the past year or so, chances are that you have to look at the childcare options available to working parents in the UK these days. You may already have children that are now starting school full time and you feel that the time is now right for you to go back to work. Whatever your reason for returning to work – whether you’ve reached the end of the available maternity leave or whether you’ve been lucky enough to be able to afford to stay at home while the kids are small, the most important issue you will be facing is how to make sure your young ones are looked after while you’re out earning a living.

Until recent years, leaving the kids with a family member or friend was usually the cheapest option available to working parents. However, the registered childminder industry has changed radically in recent years with government initiatives that have been designed to ensure that all working parents have some sort of suitable and affordable childcare available to them. It’s even been made possible for grandparents (or other relatives) to register as childminders so that parents can take advantage of any benefits available to help with costs even if they are paying family members for this service.

Registered childminders how have to attend suitable training courses to make sure that they are up to date with childcare best practice. After all, babies are learning from the moment they are born and it’s now recognised that the early learning years are some of the most important years in terms of child development. This means learning through the medium of play and people who look after small children need to make sure that they provide relevant activities that will cater to all six areas of learning:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Communication, Language and Literacy

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Physical Development

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy

Creative Development

The training provided through nanny payroll services ensures that they are able to offer the children in their care age-appropriate activities, each of which should cater to at least some of the areas of learning. By making sure that children take part in a range of activities, it’s easy to make sure that all six areas of learning are covered on a daily basis.

Not only do registered childminders now have to undergo this training, they are also subjected to regular inspections from Social Services to ensure that the environment in which they look after children is safe and suitable for the purpose. As well as carrying out scheduled inspections, Social Services will also make an unscheduled drop in inspection as an extra level of safety.

This means that using a registered childminder as your childcare option is now safe as well as affordable. For those whose children are in full time school, using a registered childminder can be the ideal solution. Many mums these days choose to become childminders when they have kids of their own. This means that they can pick up their charges at the same time as they pick up their own children. Your children will then be taken to the family home (and usually given a snack or a meal, whichever you have arranged for) and can then be picked up by you on your way home from work. They will have spent their after-school time in a comfortable family home and will be full of stories about their day in school and the fun they have had afterwards at the childminder’s house.

Paying for childcare services is becoming a bit of a minefield in the UK. If you’re employing a nanny (or indeed, any other types of domestic staff), then it’s likely that you’re having to deal with paying their NI and PAYE taxes. This means that you may feel as if you need to take a course in accountancy just to be able to deal with your normal household bills! Or, you could have a look online at some of the experts that are now available and offering nanny payroll services to take the burden off your shoulders.

You’re sure to want to find a service that is efficient and accurate, but also one that is affordable so that you’re not adding extra costs to your childcare unnecessarily. You also need to be aware of the benefits that are available to you to help with childcare costs. If you’re employing a nanny who is a registered child care provider, then you will be entitled to £55 (tax and NI free) from your employer towards your childcare costs. You’ll also need to find out if you’re entitled to any other help towards childcare, such as childcare vouchers.

Whatever you’re entitled to and however much you’re paying out on a regular basis to have your children looked after while you’re at work, the whole process can be made a lot easier by taking advantage of one of the new nanny payroll services agencies. They should take care of all of the paperwork for you, and will also make sure that your childcare provider is using the appropriate tax code.

Using a dedicated nanny payroll service can take the weight off your shoulders and leave you with more of your precious time to enjoy yourself and your family. The burden of accuracy can be passed on to the experts – people who have been trained to do this type of work and deal with these issues on a daily basis as part of the services they provide. If you work full time then your time spent with your family is all the more precious and you’ll enjoy it a lot more if you do not have to worry about making sure you comply with employer regulations as a result of your childcare options.

From the very first hot tubs built around hot springs in ancient Egypt, men and women have been enjoying the therapeutic effects of hot water. Throw in good company and a few modern conveniences like built-in sound systems and DVD players and hot tubs are continuing to provide great relaxation for a wide range of people.

Early Greeks and Romans quickly discovered that spending time in hot water loaded with invigorating minerals made them feel better and helped reduce disease. The Roman legions that marched across Europe had developed the custom of bathing in hot water in their home cities in Italy, and whenever they discovered naturally occurring hot spring in a country they were busy conquering, they spent time building resorts around these springs, making these early Roman baths the scene of some of the earliest recorded hot tub parties.

Through the Dark Ages, bathing fell into disfavor with the church (too many Roman orgies going on in those baths, some things never change) and bathing was not practiced by the common man. It wasn’t until the 18th century that hot water soaking (tubbing) started to become popular in the United States but by the late 20th century, hot tubs were beginning to come into their own.

Today, hot tubs look nothing like the bowl that was chiseled out of granite for Median King Phraortes. Hot tubs of the 1960s started things off being simply large wooden tubs, usually made out of redwood, with a heating system for the water and seats around the inner edge. As drawbacks to the basic wooden tubs began to be discovered, manufactures searched for safe and reliable ways to contain and heat a large volume of water for the enjoyment of many people at one time. Today’s home spa system (hot tub) is a completely self-contained modern hydrotherapy system that would make the Greeks proud.

Hot tubs are a fabulous way to relax and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of hot water, and soothing minerals all in the same place along with family and friends. Whether you’re using a hot tub to ease stiff and aching joints or impress your neighbors, here are three basic things you can do to maintain your new purchase, ensuring it has long and useful life.

1. Maintain the sanitizer system in your hot tub. The warm water of hot tubs could be a great breeding ground for potentially harmful microorganisms if it was not for the use of a sanitizer system. Bodily bacteria as well as ones that are airborne can make it into the nice warm water of a hot tub and settle in for a long stay. Sanitizing your hot tub will destroy these unseen microorganisms and keep your tub safe from harmful bacteria. A recent outbreak of Legionnaires disease at the famous Hefner (Playboy) mansion was traced back to bacteria found in a hot tub that was used during a fund raiser party being held at the site.

2. Shock treat your system. This may sound harsh, but it is the routine of applying something to your hot tub water to break down any dead organic material that has been left behind in your sanitizer system. If materials like dirt, soap film, hair spray and perspiration remain in the water, these things can provide a food source for those bacteria that you’re trying to remove from the tub. Periodically adding a ‘shock’ compound to the water will assist your sanitizer system to perform better and keep the water in your tub clear and clean.

3. Control the water balance. It may be hard to imagine water balancing, especially when there are lots of people playing and splashing around in it, but the mineral components of the water in your hot tub are constantly involved in a delicate balancing arrangement. You will want to avoid having water that is either too alkaline or too acidic. A high pH (alkaline) in your water can cause a scale build up on your expensive equipment that is difficult to remove, while a low pH (acidic) can cause damage to spa pumps and heaters.

No one today disputes the benefits of sinking down into a relaxing pool of water, heated to just the right temperature to make stiff or aching joints or muscles relax and move freely. Hot tubs or spas have been around in the United Kingdom since the Romans discovered that the hot springs in Bath made an excellent spot to relax and unwind after a hard day of battle as early as AD 43.

Prior to the Romans, both the ancient Egyptians and Greeks used warm baths for therapeutic purposes. The Egyptians used warm baths for therapy as early as 2000 B.C. These early hot tubs were simply naturally occurring depressions in the ground that contained water, enterprising Egyptians heated stones to sizzling and placed them in the water to heat it up for a relaxing soak. The ancient Greeks too believed in the benefits of hot baths and mineral waters, the most popular public baths were actually worship centers providing physical and spiritual comfort to those using the waters.

The Greeks initially regarded bathing in hot water as beneficial for cleansing but by the 4th century BC it was also highly regarded as being beneficial for most diseases and Greek hydrotherapy was in common use in the inhabited world. Today, you can still find hot springs in Greece being used for their curative powers, with many who suffer from rheumatism, arthritis and neuralgia visiting these mineral filled hot springs in order to find relief from their discomfort.

The Romans too believed that sitting in hot water was necessary for maintenance of good health. Roman legions brought this practice along every where they went in Europe and the UK, as they built their own baths at hot springs in every place they found them all across their newly conquered lands.

Today’s hot tubs typically come in two types; you can have a simple tub made of wooden stoves for soaking in hot water or a one piece plastic tub usually referred to as a spa. Hot tubs are typically located outside and are common sights at resorts, water parks, swimming pools or on board cruise ships. Homeowners are buying personal hot tubs for use in their back deck or to fill an empty space in the back yard. As the world’s population ages, a hot tub is an excellent means to find relief for sore and aching joints.

A basic wooden hot tub is formed in much the same way as a large wooden barrel. Redwood has been the wood of choices for hot tubs for many years, but today cedar and teak wood are also becoming popular in the creation of modern hot tubs. The wooden variety of hot tub is usually quite deep and many are set inside a wooden deck for easy of entry into the tub. Wooden bench seating is customary around the inside of the tub.

In plastic hot tubs, a variety of seating arrangements are possible and it is common to have water jets as part of each seat that allow for water to be directed at specific body parts for a greater therapeutic effect. Water coming into the hot tub may also be aerated for additional soothing of aching muscles. Shallower than wooden tubs, the plastic models are easier to transport and move around, as well as being cheaper to manufacture.

The basics of any hot tub are water, a pump system to circulate that water and a method of heating the water to just the right temperature. Modern plastic tubs are now coming equipped with sophisticated sound systems as well as TVs and DVD players, turning the hot tub experience into a unique home theatre venue. An interesting twist on the old days of drive-in moves being the only way to watch movies out of doors.

Hot water has been used for therapy from as early as 2000 BC and if you are one of the more than nine million people in the UK who suffer from arthritis, you will appreciate our large line of hot tubs and spas. The ancient Egyptians were among the first to begin using hot springs or baths for therapeutic purposes, although some evidence exists to show that Phraortes, an early King of Media constructed a spa like structure circa 600 BC. The ancient Romans as well knew the benefits of warm water after a long hot tiring day of battle in the rain, they established a spa resort utilizing the hot springs at Bath in AD 43.

Today’s hot tubs are large tubs that are filled with heated water and commonly used for simple soaking, relaxation, and hydrotherapy for sore, aching joints. For the most part hot tubs are located outdoors. A trend in the 1970s was to install hot tubs in family rooms but the resulting dampness from having a large body of water contained in a basement quickly returned hot tubs to the outdoors, where they can be enjoyed year round.

A recent innovation in the field, portable hot tubs are becoming increasingly popular for the home market. These units are preassembled and sit above ground; they usually can be plugged into a simple household plug in and easily moved from place to place. Some units weight only a few hundred pounds, and have a round shape, making moving them as easy as rolling a hoop. These units are also popular because they can go with you if you’re moving unlike the larger models that weight several thousand pounds and require special electrical wiring and installation.

Larger more permanent hot tubs are found in spas and resorts around the world. Athletes of all types well know how good it feels to relax in some steaming hot water after a day of intense training. In the winter time, skiers enjoy the comfort of a hot tub after a long fun-filled day on the slopes often as snow falls around them.
